toppage_r06_c0111The Farm; One of the oldest ecovillages in the country, The Farm is home to dozens of families and individuals on thousands of acres of woodland in Summertown, TN., and it includes many Farm-founded businesses and projects, including The Farm midwives, charitable services including Plenty and Kids to the Country, the Ecovillage Training Center, the Farm store, SE International, the Book Publishing Company, the Hippie Museum, Farm Soy Diary, Mushroom People, Tempeh Lab, Village Media, the Second Foundation, and much more.

Ecovillage Training Center: Located on The Farm, the Ecovillage Training Center offers whole systems immersion experience of ecovillage living, together with classes of instruction, access to information, tools and resources, and on-site and off-site consulting and outreach experiences. ETC is also an eco-hostel, and has hosted courses in permaculture, organic certification professions, herbalology, installing solar electricity and water heating, and yurt, bamboo, cob, earthbag, roundpole, and strawbale construction, biofuels, midwifery, an annual children’s camp, and ongoing demonstrations in alternate energy, hybrid vehicles, constructed wetlands and sustainable farming. We inaugurated a student exchange program with Israeli kibbutz, Russian and Brazilian ecovillagers and a social justice program for training disadvantaged populations.

paul2images1Kansas Area Watershed Council: One of the oldest continuous bioregional groups on the continent, KAW Council covers much of Kansas as well as southern Nebraska and eastern Colorado. Founded in 1982, KAW Council hosts annual gatherings, monthly walkabouts, potlucks, presentations and programs, workshops and more, and over the years has helped organize the first continental congress in 1984, and took the lead in bringing the congresses back to life by organizing the 2002 Continental Bioregional Congress on the Prairies. KAW members have been active in bioregional organizing on the local, bioregional and continental level.
